Steve Spain
Organist

A native of Lufkin, Texas, Steve Spain is a 1975 graduate of TCU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Church Music with concentration in Organ performance. As a college student, he was organist for Carswell Air Force Base Chapel that included seven worship services every weekend! Because of his service to Carswell, Steve was awarded the Certificate of Meritorious Service from the Chief of Chaplains, USAF. He promptly moved to Midland where he was Organist-Choirmaster at First Christian Church and then organist for Trinity Presbyterian Church for 22 years. Steve was responsible for the design and installation of the Schantz Pipe Organ at Trinity in 1991, and established an “emergency ministries” program five years ago that is now being utilized in other churches. He has been organist with St. Luke’s UMC since November 2006.
