Lenten Sermon Series (

The cross stands at the center of the Christian faith. Have you ever wondered why? What gives it power and meaning to Christians?

Scripture and tradition offer a variety of ways to understand its power and purpose. During Lent, St. Luke's United Methodist Church will explore what the cross means to Christians today and the difference it can make in a person's life.

The Rev. Kelly Inman

Associate Pastor

Kelly was born in Big Spring May 5, 1972, and was raised by his grandparents in a loving Christian home in Stanton. Upon graduating from Stanton High School in 1990, he moved to Lubbock and attended Texas Tech University. Kelly found the big school to be a little overwhelming, but was introduced to the United Methodist Church through the Wesley Foundation at Tech.

Kelly returned to Midland where he attended Midland College for two years. During his time in Midland, he met his future wife, Keri.

The couple began their lives together in Amarillo and was blessed with a son, Kyle, in 1997. It was during this time in Amarillo that Kelly said he heard God's call to enter into pastoral ministry. St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Amarillo agreed and voted for Kelly to enter into this ministry. Only a few weeks later, the family moved to Hart where Kelly made his pastoral debut.

While in Hart, Kelly attended West Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences in 1999. Upon graduating, Kelly began a teaching and coaching career. While teaching in Olton, they were blessed by the arrival of daughter, Kayli, in September of 1999. Kelly continued to coach and teach for four years until he could no longer ignore his calling. He returned to the ministry, beginning at Sudan United Methodist Church. He spent one year there before being appointed to First United Methodist Church in Lubbock as associate pastor and director of recreational ministries. After three years, the family was appointed to Lorenzo, where Kelly and his family spent the past 3 ½ years. Kelly counts it a true blessing to be appointed to ministry at St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the journey that lies ahead.
