Lenten Sermon Series (

The cross stands at the center of the Christian faith. Have you ever wondered why? What gives it power and meaning to Christians?

Scripture and tradition offer a variety of ways to understand its power and purpose. During Lent, St. Luke's United Methodist Church will explore what the cross means to Christians today and the difference it can make in a person's life.

Welcome to Musikgarten at St. Luke's United Methodist Church!

We are pleased that you are considering music classes for your child. Research has shown that we are all born with an aptitude for music, but that aptitude diminishes if it is not actively nurtured between the ages of birth and nine.

The Musikgarten classes offered at St. Luke's are designed to nurture the child's music aptitude by engaging children and their families in singing and movement activities which help attune the ear, refine the voice, and develop a rhythmic body through which music can be expressed. Additionally, instrumental activities are part of the program, including playing simple rhythm instruments such as sticks and drums for babies and toddlers .

Musikgarten is the only program that offers curricula for newborns and infants. It is based on a keen understanding of how children learn, in both a general sense and, specifically, how they learn music.

We are now also offering a special class for preschool aged children, known as The Cycle of Seasons.  This curriculum promotes exploration and understanding of the child's world and the things that he will encounter each day through music, movement, poetry, and imagination.

As you familiarize yourself with our class offerings and learn more about Musikgarten, we look forward to answering your questions and welcoming your family into our music studio.

Musikgarten is led by Rachel Biggerstaff, Midland's only certified program instructor.
